Exam Access Arrangements -Form 8
If you struggle to finish exams on time; have difficulties with handwriting or converting your ideas into the written form; or have trouble understanding written questions, you may need to apply for exam access arrangements.
An assessment is carried out by an educational psychologist or an access arrangements assessor. A Form 8 will be completed, which school or college will use to apply for any recommended support. This can include:
- extra time
- a word processor
- a reader
- a scribe
Many schools request Form 8 assessments, however, from Year 9 onwards an assessment can be requested from us directly which can be submitted to school with their agreement.
What can Form 8 assessments be provided for?
Form 8 assessments are suitable for learners studying:
- A Levels
- FE courses
What does the assessment include?
- single word spelling
- single word reading
- writing speed and legibility
- processing speed
- reading speeding and comprehension
How long is the assessment?
Each assessment takes around 45-60 minutes.
Who undertakes the assessment?
We provide educational psychologists and access arrangement assessors with Level 7 accreditation to assess your needs for Exam Access Arrangements in accordance with JCQ regulations and guidance.
How much does a Form 8 assessment cost?
For assessment within a 30 mile radius of our Halifax offices, the cost is £90 plus VAT per learner. For locations outside the 30 mile radius the cost is £100 plus VAT per learner.
When do I need a Form 8 assessment?
An Form 8 assessment will be requested through school or college, usually from Year 9 onwards and can be requested directly from EGS. If you want to study at university, you will need a further assessment. University guidelines differ greatly from school and 6th Form and a further assessment is recommended to support an application for Disabled Student Allowance.
